The editorial staff makes it a point to develop relationships with sources as it seeks to create content to encompass everything from game coverage, features and analyses, a scoreboard and recruiting that the South Orange County community and its high school sports fans are excited to read about.
As journalism is ever-evolving, SOCo Prep Sports is not limited to written articles and will include many visual forms of story-telling through video, podcasting and the public’s engagement through various social media platforms.
Over the past few years, the 16 high school athletic programs that sit between San Clemente and Lake Forest have seen limited coverage by print newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, and Picket Fence Media (The San Clemente Times, The Dana Point Times and The Capistrano Dispatch).
Too many high school athletic programs in South Orange County are not currently receiving the attention they deserve. Newspapers are not staffed like they were a decade ago. Many reporters have been let go and many newspapers have chosen to cut down the number of issues published per week.
SOCo Prep Sports seeks to resolve that issue. Its digital platform is designed to be the first choice for South Orange County high school sports fans. Our mission is simple: student-athletes are put front and center.
