CIF-SS football playoff brackets released, 11 area teams selected

The CIF-Southern Section released its 2023 football championship brackets for Division 1 through Division 14.

Here are the area teams that were selected and who they will face in the first round. Higher seed gets home game.

Division 1

No. 1 St. John Bosco vs. No. 8 San Clemente

Division 2

No. 5 Mission Viejo vs. No. 12 Palos Verde

Division 3

No. 1 San Juan Hills vs. No. 16 St. Francis

Division 4

No. 6 Capo Valley  vs. No. 11 Downey

No. 7 Newport Harbor vs. No. 10 Trabuco Hills

Division 6

No. 3 Murrieta Mesa vs. No. 14 Laguna Hills

No. 1 Ontario Christian vs. No. 16 Dana Hills
